"As a user, I want the ‘J’ and ‘L’ keyboard shortcuts to adjust playback speed (e.g., 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x) instead of skipping forward or backward, following standard video editing software conventions, so I can have more granular control over video playback speed during review sessions."

Play in Reverse

When I want to highlight something after I saw it, I don't want to have to click through timecode. I want to press "PLAY (but in reverse, at the chosen speed, 1x/1.5x/2x/4x/8x). MUCH easier than trying to click on my chosen timecode, or advance or reverse frame-by-frame (ugh)

This is probably solved in the JKL for playback request - upvote that.
J is the Standard keyboard shortcut in NLE for play in reverse.

Yes, and with speed increases with subsequent presses.
FYI - There is a current implementation - if the video is the focus area
k : plays - j/l : jump 5 sec
Due to focus selection/browser implementations (comments need to use jkl), it might be better if it was universally accessible with the option modifier key
